Steps to Earn the Certified Sports & Entertainment Specialist (CSES) Designation

Issued by The Sports & Entertainment Institute

The Certified Sports & Entertainment Specialist™ (CSES) designation recognizes professionals who have demonstrated the knowledge, ethics, and expertise to serve the unique needs of athletes, entertainers, and high-profile clientele.

There are three key steps required to earn and maintain the CSES designation:

STEP 1 – Complete the Required Training

The first step toward earning the CSES designation is completion of the 8-hour online course, “Fundamentals of Working with Athletes & Entertainers.”

This foundational course introduces participants to the sports and entertainment marketplace, exploring client lifestyle factors, confidentiality, NIL (Name, Image & Likeness) income, mobility, and ethical representation.

Once you successfully complete this course and pass the final exam, you become eligible to enroll in the CSES Network — an exclusive professional directory connecting certified specialists, advisors, athletes, and agents.

Your initial network membership is included for one year with course enrollment. Thereafter, annual renewal is $495 per year.

STEP 2 – Submit Professional References

To activate your full CSES profile and referral eligibility, you must demonstrate real-world experience and credibility. This can be done in one of two ways:

Option A:

  • Provide three professional recommendations from a current or former athlete, entertainer, their significant other, or an advisor/agent.

OR

Option B:

  • Submit one client testimonial and documentation of at least one completed transaction in the past 12 months involving an athlete, entertainer, or their representative.

These references and testimonials will be displayed on your CSES Network profile to validate your specialization and enhance your visibility as a trusted referral source.

STEP 3 – Maintain Active Membership

Ongoing membership in The Sports & Entertainment Institute™ and good standing with your professional licensing body (e.g., the National Association of REALTORS® or equivalent organization) is required to retain the CSES designation.

  • First Year Membership: Included with course enrollment
  • Renewal Fee: $495 per year
  • Status Requirement: Must maintain good ethical standing and complete any required CE for renewal

CSES Advisor Recognition

Professionals who demonstrate exceptional performance are eligible for recognition as a CSES Advisor.

To qualify, candidates must:

  • Provide three client testimonials,
  • Provide three agent/advisor references, and
  • Document at least three completed transactions involving professional athletes or entertainers.

CSES Advisors are given enhanced visibility within the CSES Network and may be invited to serve as mentors, panelists, or guest speakers for future cohorts and events.
